Position Goals: Maintains overall understanding of assigned payor to inlude what is covered versus non-covered. Serves as a liaison between clinic and assigned payor.
 

    Position Responsibilites:

  • Reviews claims to make sure that the payer specific billing requirements are met, follows up on billing, determines and applies appropriate adjustments, answers questions and updates accounts as necessary.
  • Follow up on unplaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
  • All acounts are to be reviewed for insurance or patient follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts and any other calls that you may receive.
  • Effectively communicate with insurance companies and patients, orally and written.
  • Perform "soft" collections for patient past due accounts. To include contacting and notifying partients via phone or mail.
  • Zero out claims through follow up with insurance, patients, site management, and physician involvement.
  • Establish/maintain relationships with our Care Center Staff.
  • Help manage a multi-line telephone system.
  • Responsible for managing assigned Payer hold/Manager hold buckets.
  • Appropriately appeal insurance claims in a timely manner as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Experience: Minimum of one year insurance claims/related experience required. Working knowledge of commercial, governmental, and workers compensation rules. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 terminology. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures of this particular field. Athena experience a plus.
Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent required. 
Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently
